Trying ever so hard to make Fanime work! I am moving LITERALLY during Fanime, but am going to hopefully make it to San Diego prior to the convention and head north as soon as I drop my dog and cat with a friend.
Military moves are a bizarre thing in that they overcompensate for the hassle of moving yet don't really give you time in the right areas... An example of what I mean; I work on the day I leave, then have eight days to drive from NC to CA, but then have to go to work on my "arrival" date. No time on either end and twice the time I need in the middle. Luckily that middle time should allow me to head to Fanime! Yay!
As for Fanime, I will hopefully be bringing my wonderful and way too cute MLP necklaces to sell along side my good friends awesome t-shirts! I will likely cosplay 3-4 costumes which I already have, not 100% right now, however... I have been having a hard time getting too into cosplay thanks to a weird issue I can only chalk up to a combo of allergies, getting older, and mandatorily wearing contacts for almost 15 years of my life. I have a torn levator muscle in my right eyelid which has caused ptosis (drooping) of the eyelid. It started literally over night in December of 2011 and I will have to have surgery to fix it, but just plain don't want to have surgery right now, especially after having THREE (unrelated) in the past six months!
ANYWAYS, so that aside, cosplay plans for Fanime will include the following:
Lara Croft, Tomb Raider 2013 - Definitely wearing
Nightmare Moon, My Little Pony Gijinka - Maybe wearing
Yohji, Weiss Kruz - Definitely wearing
If anymore get added I will be sure to post them! I love cosplaying Lara Croft in her new outfit! I am making up patterns for her holster currently and will hopefully have it done in time for the convention...
I do want to touch a little on some plans I have rattling around in my head. Hopefully I will have more opportunities in CA to get out to more conventions, or even to get some more of my works out there. I really, REALLY want to produce a Doctor Who inspired, Lolita inspired outfit. I have been researching some of this genre of fashion and rather enjoy the technicality of it all. Don't get me wrong, I am NOT a Lolita nor do I claim to be one, but the clothes are darling and some are outright stunning! I am a cosplayer which means I dress up as things I like, thus the Lolita stylings strike my fancy much the same as a Shinigami robe or my favorite Gundam boy... The Doctor (Tennant's) has been a dream in the back of my mind for awhile, but for some reason, his suit, trench, and tie call to my inner fan girl to redo in a full skirt with petticoats... I also still have 75% of my Duo Maxwell costume completed which leers at me each time I open the closet, a Tolkien inspired Elf costume drafted, and the list goes on...
Hope to see you at Fanime and/or check out my Etsy page (www.etsy.com/kopishop)! I just posted the last batch of my Mane 6 ponies! They tend to go quick (especially Rainbow Dash) so I'll plug them on here for you guys first!
